Medicare 2026: What’s Changing and What It Means for You

Medicare changes every year, and 2026 brings some significant updates that could affect your coverage and costs. Here’s what you need to know.

The $2,000 annual out-of-pocket cap on Part D prescription drug costs is now fully in effect. This is great news for anyone taking expensive medications — your costs are capped regardless of how much your prescriptions cost.

Part B premiums have been adjusted for 2026. While the standard premium remains relatively stable, income-related surcharges (IRMAA) thresholds have changed. If your income has fluctuated, this could affect your premium.

Medicare Advantage plans change their benefits, networks, and costs every year. Just because your plan was the best choice last year doesn’t mean it’s the best choice this year. We recommend reviewing your options during the Annual Enrollment Period every fall.

Medigap (supplement) plan rates have shifted as well. If you haven’t shopped your supplement recently, you could be paying more than necessary for the same standardized coverage.

The bottom line: Medicare is not a ‘set it and forget it’ decision. We review our clients’ plans every year to make sure they’re getting the best value. Schedule your free Medicare review today.
